About the Band

Suburban Whiskey is:

"Aged, fine spirits of music from the guys in the neighborhood"

Like aged, fine rare spirits, that's who Suburban Whiskey really is: a premium group of veteran musicians, each with decades of playing experience, all dedicated to playing the classic grooves, iconic jams, rousing anthems, rock-outs, and just plain fun shuffles, heartfelt ballads, and riffs of yesteryear, as well as creating an eclectic mix of new expressions of original songwriting inspiration.

Founded in April of 2012, Suburban Whiskey hails out of Austin, TX, the live music capital of the world; although, more precisely, they spend the lion's share of their time rehearsing and recording in one of Austin's picturesque suburbs in the Texas Hill Country near scenic Lake Travis.

That is, far from the "starving artist" stereotypes of many groups of talented musicians, the members of Suburban Whiskey just happen to all be successful and accomplished business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

At its heart, Suburban Whiskey is a band that enjoys the privilege of being able to play purely for the passion of the music they love and wish to share.

The band's musical tastes range from the influences of artists such as Eric Clapton, The Byrds, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Credence Clearwater Revival, Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Dwight Yokum, Melissa Etherege, Van Morrison, The Righteous Brothers, and many, many others.

Suburban Whiskey, by design, plays it sets very "old school."  That is, with REAL guitars, REAL acoustic drums, vintage amps, and NO auto-tuned singers.  It's a LIVE adult experience designed to get your toes tapping, your hands clapping, and your voice hoarse from singing along to songs you may have thought you'd long forgotten.

"...turn it up!"

Paige Pierce (bass guitar)

Paige works for a local telecommunications and networking company in Austin.  He's an accomplished bass player and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His love for rock-n-roll started at the age of six when his father had him watch The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show.

He was fortunate to grow up during the sixties and seventies -- the Golden Age of Rock -- where his musical soul was born. For many musicians, that period really was "The Wonder Years." Paige bought his first bass at age 15; however,  that bass got dusty while he served in the Army. There was a time where he thought he would never play bass again, but there  was something missing. So he dusted it off back in 2007 and hasn't put it down since.

Bob Gelinas (drums)

Bob has been playing drums for over 30 years, since age 13, classically trained as a percussionist in school, playing professionally in High School and College, as well as led the Air Force Drum and Bugle Corps at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, during his tenure there. He loves old time rock and roll, jazz, and classical music.

Matt Brown (lead vocals & guitar)

Matt has previously played bass for several bands in Chicago including Sensei and NKO but has always played guitar.  After hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan on KLBJ as a teenager he picked up his first guitar and hasnít put it down since.

Other influences are The Beatles, Clapton, Phish, Grateful Dead, Parliament, AC/DC, Jason Isbell, Led Zepplin, Miles Davis, Mayhem, Albert King, Black Sabbath, Yo La Tengo, Moody Blues, Iron Maiden, The Cars.....
